Success Story: Here is another inspiring success story for our visitors. This story has been shared by Mr. Anand Patel who has got final selection as a Probationary Officer in Bank of India in the IBPS III CWE. Here is the success story in his own words:
My name is Anand Patel.I did my B.S (Marine Engineering) from Tolani Maritime Institute (University:BITS Pilani). This was a specialised course to join merchant navy as a Marine Engineer.I did the job from about 2008 to 2012. The last salary which i received was about 3700 USD per month which came to more than 2 lac INR per month however this salary we received only when we were onboard ships. Also our job required us to be away from home and society for about 6 months at a stretch. There are only 2 members in my family me and my mom, sister being married and father passed away long back. Hence that also remained at the back of my mind, also i was not enjoying the job and my interest somehow got inclined towards finance and banking sector in the meanwhile.
I came home back from ship after about 7 months in january 2013, that time there was no idea that i would prepare for bank exams, that time i saw notification of sbi in papers and i started preparing for it but could’t get through it, took some time off and again started preparing for exams. This time trying to overcome the flaws which i tried to figure out by myself.
Most important was increasing speed and giving special attention to the strong points ,at the same time figuring out what can be done to rectify weak points. I learned vedic maths the material for which i found on internet and started solving 1-2 papers daily of previous po exams of various banks.
I also purchased books specially for english papers as i thought it can be a scoring section.
For General Awareness I referred to Online GK Website.
I was highly disappointed with my performance in written paper but was pleasantly surprised to see that i had managed to clear it when the results came.. i got 81/200 in general category.
For interviews i read about banking terms, general awareness part and the usual interview questions.
I got 75/100 in interview
Total i got 47.4 and got BOI (my 3rd preference) allotted in the UR category.
