In this post however we will concentrate only of the SBI PO Syllabus for the preliminary as well as main examination and we will also explain about pattern of SBI PO Exam.
From the year 2015, SBI has made changes in the exam pattern of SBI PO Exam. Now the SBI PO Exam is being conducted in 3 phases viz. pre, mains and personality test.
Now there may be query in your mind that why the SBI has increased an additional phase. The reason for that every year lacs of students appear in SBI PO exam and for screening purpose SBI has now started preliminary exam so that non serious students can be wiped out in the first phase itself.
SBI PO Syllabus and Exam pattern
SBI PO Exam Phase I Preliminary Examination
Preliminary Examination will be a test of objective questions of 100 marks and only of 1 hour duration.
There will be three section which will be as under:
English Language 30 questions of 30 marks.
Quantitative Aptitude 35 questions of 35 marks.
Reasoning Ability 35 questions of 35 marks.
Total 100 Questions of 100 Marks
Those who qualify the preliminary examination will be called for the Main Examination. The Main Examination will consist of Objective Test for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online.
SBI PO Exam Phase II Main Examination
SBI PO Main Objective Test
The Objective Test will be of 2 hour duration and will consist of four sections with 50 marks each.
Test of English Language
Test of General Awareness, Marketing and Computers
Test of Data Analysis and Interpretation
Test of High Level Reasoning
Important: The candidates are required to qualify in each of the paper by scoring minimum cut off marks in each section.

SBI PO Main Descriptive Test
The Descriptive Test of SBI PO will be of 1 hour duration and will normally consist of Letter writing and Essay. The paper will be of 50 marks and will be of qualifying nature.
SBI PO Exam Phase III
This will be the last phase of SBI PO Selection Process and it will consist of Group Discussion (20 marks) and Interview (30 marks).

English Language: Reading Comprehension, Jumbled Sentences, Close Passages, Errors Correction, One Word Substitution, Idioms and Phrases, Spelling Test, Fill in the Blanks etc.
Reasoning: Input – output, Sentence coding, Logical Reasoning, Syllogism, Puzzles, Seating Arrangement, Data Sufficiency, Directions, inference, statement and argument etc.
General Awareness: Current Affairs, Banking Awareness, Computer Awareness, Marketing
Data Interpretation: Line graphs, Bar chart, Pie chart, Tables, Probability etc.
Descriptive Test: Letter writing, essay writing, precis etc.
