Time Management is very important both before the exam and during the exam. Before the exam one must has a very regular and time bound routine for each section. During the exam it is very important to allocate proper time on each section. This will ensure in scoring maximum possible marks in each section.

I have already explained you in details about the IBPS PO Preliminary Exam pattern so in this post I will talk only about time management. In case you have any confusion on IBPS PO Preliminary Exam pattern you can check the post. I will tell you how we can approach all sections efficiently and also a few other tips to clear sectional and overall cut-off of phase I.

In the preliminary exam of the IBPS PO the best part is that one can switch to any section during the composite allotted time of 1 hour.

Time Management Tips for IBPS PO

In my view we should allocate our time in the following manner.

  1. English language – 15 Minutes
  1. Quantitative Aptitude – 20-25 Minutes
  1. Reasoning Ability – 20-25 Minutes

Now the question also comes that how many questions one should attempt. My suggestion is that the objective should be to attempt maximum possible questions during this time limit. However do not solve any question by guess work. Accuracy is also very important otherwise negative marking will spoil your good work. The first objective should be to complete all those questions in which you are 100% sure. Thereafter you should also attempt those questions in which you are more that 50% sure. If you are not even 50% sure then you should leave such questions.

You should be aware about this guideline about IBPS PO Exam: –

“There will be penalty for wrong answers marked in the Objective Tests. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate one fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty to arrive at corrected score. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate, there will be no penalty for that question”

Therefore you should take a note of negative marking aspect. However you can surely take chance in the questions in which you are 50% or more sure. There is nothing wrong in intelligent guessing.
