IBPS PO Exam pattern has since been changed by the IBPS from the year 2015. In this post we are going to explain you about the new and latest exam pattern of IBPS PO Examination. In the last post we have explained about the latest IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern, so those who are also preparing for IBPS Clerk exam may refer that.
IBPS has already announced dates for this year Probationary Officer Exam hence it is the right time to start your preparation.
As you all know that IBPS Common Exam for recruitment of Probationary Officers/Management Trainees is being conducted by the IBPS every year. IBPS has changed the exam pattern of this very popular exam from 2015 and for the benefit of all our visitors we are explaining the detailed IBPS PO Exam Pattern.
Why IBPS PO Exam Pattern was changed? From 2015 for the first time IBPS PO Exam was conducted in two phase’s viz. preliminary and main exams for recruitment of candidates. The reason for change in the exam pattern was to filter the well prepared students from not so well prepared students. In the first phase of the preliminary examination, most of the students who have not prepared well get filtered and in the main examination the competition is only among the sincere and well prepared students. The structure of the Examinations is as under:

Preliminary Examination (Online Exam): As far as the structure of Preliminary online exam is concerned, it will be an objective test which will consist of three papers:
- English Language (30 Questions, 30 Marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude (35 Questions, 35 Marks)
- Reasoning Ability (35 Questions, 35 Marks)
- Reasoning (50 Questions, 50 Marks)
- English Language (40 Questions, 40 Marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude (50 Questions, 50 Marks)
- General Awareness (with special reference to Banking Industry) (40 Questions, 40 Marks)
- Computer Knowledge (20 Questions, 20 Marks)
Cut off Score:
Mean – 3/4th of Standard Deviation for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD categories
Mean – 1/4th of Standard Deviation for General Category
There will be a second level cutoff point on total as per requirement
Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test and also a minimum total score, as explained above, to be considered to be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, cutoffs will be decided and candidates will be shortlisted for interview. Prior to the completion of the interview process, scores obtained in the online examination will not be shared with the candidates shortlisted for interview.
Interview: Candidates who have been shortlisted in the main examination for CWE PO/MT-V will subsequently be called for an Interview.
Normally for IBPS PO Examination 6 months serious preparation is enough, however now the competition is so intense that mere good preparation is not sufficient. Most of the sincere students prepare well. Now your focus should be to score extra marks over others. Therefore once your concepts are clear your focus should be to increase your speed and try to score as high as you can. Only with this kind of approach you can get through.
