IBPS PO Eligibility criteria of 2016-17

Let us discuss IBPS PO Eligibility criteria of 2016-17 seasons.

ibps po eligibility criteriaEducation Qualification Required for IBPS PO: First and foremost is the Education Qualification. For those who are not aware I would like to tell that a degree from a recognized college or university is the requirement for applying for IBPS PO. Many of my students ask, what is the minimum percentage requirement for applying for IBPS PO? One of my students has recently asked  a question. He asked that he has got only 45% in his graduation marks whether he can apply for IBPS PO or not? As per the IBPS notification there is no percentage bar specified in the advertisement. It means anybody who has passed graduation degree is eligible for applying and the minimum requirement is passing marks only.

Many students also ask that they are studying in the final year of graduation, whether they can apply? Here the answer is ‘yes’ but your result should be declared before 13.08.2016. While calculating percentage the fraction of percentage will be ignored i.e. 59.99% will be treated as less than 60% and

54.99% will be treated as less than 55%.

Age limit required for IBPS PO: Now the second eligibility criteria which is also very important is the age criteria. The age will be reckoned as on 01.07.2016. Minimum age requirement is 20 years and the maximum is 30 years. As per the notification of IBPS PO, a candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.07.1986 and not later than 01.07.1996 (Both dates are inclusive). The minimum age requirement to apply for IBPS PO exam is 20 years and the maximum  age limit is restricted to 30 years for general category candidates. Some of my students have asked that they are a few days less than the minimum age or a few days more than the upper age, whether they can apply? I would like to tell you clearly that if you are not eligible even by a single day you can not apply. While seeing the age criteria you should also check the age relaxation norms if you belong to any reserved category. Here is the list of relaxations for age in the IBPS PO.

SC/ST-Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe – 5 years

OBC – 3 years

PWD – 10 years

Ex-Servicemen/ECOs/SSCOs – 5 years

Persons ordinarily domiciled in J & K state – 5 years

Persons affected by 1984 riots –  5 years
