IBPS Clerk English Syllabus – Detailed Syllabus English Section

IBPS Clerk Exam is the next big exam in line. The preliminary examination will take place in the first and second week of December 2017. In this post I am going to tell you about IBPS Clerk English Syllabus for the preliminary examination 2017.

Before telling you about IBPS Clerk English Syllabus let me tell you briefly about the IBPS Clerk Preliminary Exam patter 2017. There will be three papers in IBPS Clerk Preliminary examination which are English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability.

There will be a total of 100 questions which are to be solved in 60 minutes. In English language section there will be 30 questions whereas in other two sections there will be 35 questions each. There is negative marking also. Further, you have to qualify in each section and have to clear sectional as well as overall cut off.

Now coming back to the English Section of IBPS Clerk exam, English section is very important for students in this exam because of few reasons. One reason is that English section can be solved very quickly with good preparation. The other two sections are time taking. However you can solve English section quickly which will give you more time for other two sections. However to solve it quickly you should prepare well only then you can increase your speed as well as accuracy.

One important part of the preparation is to have a good understanding about the syllabus of the examination. Therefore I am telling you about the detailed syllabus for the IBPS Clerk English Section.

IBPS does not officially release a syllabus for this particular examination. The syllabus given here is based on the analysis of previous year papers. IBPS may change the syllabus or pattern of questions as per its discretion.

Reading Comprehension: Comprehension is an important component of this section. There are 8-10 questions based on a paragraph. You can get maximum correct with good preparation as the level of questions remain moderate. Normally topics related to banking, economy, social issues, current issues can be asked. A good method for preparation of this section is regular reading of Editorial section of good English Newspaper.

Apart from the comprehension the remaining questions are topics such as spotting error, sentence correction, fill in the blanks, cloze test, vocabulary based questions, jumbled paragraph arrangement, paragraph based questions.

The topics such as tenses, articles, prepositions, subject verb agreement, parallelism, degrees of comparison, sentence construction, phrasal verbs, pronouns, adverbs, non-finite verbs, common errors etc will be covered through above syllabus.
